Be a Student Mentor

Do you enjoy helping others and are you in a position to pass on your skills and expertise to a current student at Dudley College?

If so we would like you to apply to become a Student Mentor. Student Mentors offer support to individuals on a one-to-one basis helping them develop their academic and practical skills. We are looking for individuals who could support a higher education student in developing the following skills:

  • Knowledge of a particular professional/trade area i.e. Veterinary Science, Engineering, Media, etc
  • Time management and planning
  • Helping with presentations and written assessments
  • Preparing for assessments
  • Networking and securing employment opportunities

The mentoring scheme is designed to let a current student benefit from you passing on what you have learnt. Typically mentors meet once a month. The meeting can take place at a mentor’s place of work, at college or somewhere neutral like a local café. You can apply to become a mentor at any point in the year and we will work with you to match you with a student who we feel will benefit from working with you.

All mentors will be invited to attend the academic graduation of their mentees on successful completion of their qualifications.
